We are continuing our series on how to better your year to have an amazing 2020! Whether you live in Central Oregon and have lakes and hiking trails practically outside your door, or live in another town, I think we can all agree that we want to adventure more during the year. That’s what we’re talking about this week- adventuring more!
Make a List- Sit down, pull out a map or go online and check out lakes, hikes, bike trails, or camp trips you want to go on and write them all down. Be reasonable, but step out of your comfort zone a little (you never know).
Toss in a Jar- For small lake days or day hikes that are close and very reasonable, toss in a jar and come Friday when you are not sure what to do for the weekend, you can pull from the jar. Kids love this!
Plan Seasonally- Plan adventures for each season, that way you have fun stuff to do year-round. Ski or snowboard in the winter/ spring, mountain bike/ camp in the summer and so on.
Plan one big Trip- Everyone deserves at least one good vacation a year, where you can turn off your phone, and just sit back relax with no everyday distractions. Figure out where you want to go, and plan accordingly. It helps to ask for time off now, and just start saving and planning for it. We all know the longer you put it off, the less likely it is to actually happen, so get the ball rolling for that much-deserved trip.
Create or Join a Group- There are local groups for pretty much everything, so start looking on Facebook, the newspaper, or craigslist. If you can’t find anything, start one! You can meet up monthly or more and talk about fun trips or adventuring. This is a great way to make new friends, and have some potential adventure buddies, plus you never know what kind of knowledge and experience the next person may have.
JUST DO IT- Get out there and do it. Check as many things off your list this year as possible. We all know how quickly time goes, and before we know it, it will be summer, so any free time you have, grab the family or friends, and get out there- You won’t regret it.
