Bike Safety

May is National Bike Month!

With the warmer weather, I think everyone is getting excited to start up outdoor activities us Central Oregonians love, including biking. Whether biking on trails in the forest, or biking to work, there’s some safety tips we want you to know.

Check Equipment-
Make sure bike tires have enough air.
Make sure all parts are secure.
Check if seat is adjusted properly.
Make sure the front and back have reflectors.

Wear a Helmet-
Even if no person or cars are around, you never know what can happen, and better safe than sorry. You can buy helmets at all bike and sporting goods stores, and they can help you find the right one for you and your type of riding.

Make sure you will be seen-
Wear bright clothing.
If riding at night, have lights and reflectors on the front and back of bike, and yourself just to be safe.

Follow the laws and rules of the road-
Learn traffic laws.
Keep alert at all times.
Use hand signals.
Before entering into traffic, check all directions.
Bike in the same direction of traffic and cars, do NOT go against traffic.
