It’s that home selling time of year! Whether you are selling your home and having potential buyers coming to look at your house, or just starting the process, and showing to realtors, here are some things you need to do to make your home look it’s very best.
Clean Up Yard- Think of this as first impressions. It’s the very first thing people see when pulling up, so take a little extra time to: mow lawn, pull or spray weeds, trim branches on trees or shrubs that are getting a little out of control, put flowers out, update or wash patio furniture or chairs, get new welcome mat, think about re-painting front door to make more inviting.
De-Clutter/De-Personalize- Clean up any excess stuff around the house, or think about putting in storage. If there are a lot of family photos around, think about taking down or replacing with more generic paintings or decorations. Remember, you want potential buyers to vision themselves in this home, not you and your family.
Change Out Light bulbs- Change out any dead light bulbs. Maybe while you’re at it, change all the bulbs in the house to brighter, energy efficient bulbs to really showcase every room.
Clean, Clean, Clean- Clean everything, even places you may not really notice anymore, because someone else will probably notice. Clean out garbage disposal and sinks to get rid of any smells or excess food scraps. If any walls have scuffs, think about re-painting to brighten up house. Look low and high when cleaning to be sure to get any spider webs in a high corner, and scuffed up floorboards. If you do not have the time or want to clean, hire someone to do it for you, it’s a must when selling!
Make Repairs- Any repairs around the house that have been ignored for far too long? Now’s the time to just do it. If they are small issues like a loose drawer handle or wobbly table, you can do them yourself, but for bigger projects, call a specialist to get your home in tip-top selling shape!
