Mother’s Day is May 10th, which is less than 2 weeks away. Whether you live close to mom and see her regularly, or live far away and won’t be able to spend the day with her, we’ve put together some gift ideas, as well as flowers and their meanings, in case you decide to send those for her to enjoy on her day.

Help Mom with Garden- If you live close, you could spend the day helping mom plant a garden. If she doesn’t have the room for a garden, you could plant some beautiful flowers where she can see them every day, like in pots on a porch, hanging baskets, or just in a room where she can enjoy their beauty.

Custom Jewelry- Check with your local jewelry store if they are open, and see what kind of jewelry they have in their shop that can be customized or special for mom. If there are no shops open, you can try and get in direct touch with the jeweler as they may be making and creating from home. Some ideas are: a bracelet or necklace with all of her kids’ birth stones, a bracelet engraved with kids’ names inside, and so much more, get creative! If there is nowhere locally you can have these made, check online, there are plenty of websites like Etsy with handmade jewelry. Just make sure you give them enough time to make them, and be sent.

Spa Day- You can support local businesses by buying gift cards right now, so why not get mom a gift card for a spa day? Another fun idea if you live close is to do these services yourself. You can give mom a nice relaxing manicure and pedicure, and a calming facial. Just allowing her to relax and feel extra special is what Mother’s Day is all about, she will love it.

Make a Meal- With so many restaurants all over the country closed right now, make her favorite meal for her at home. If you don’t live close, you could see if there are any personal chefs in her area that could go to her house and cook for her, or have her favorite restaurant delivered to her, as many restaurants are offering these services since dining in might not be an option.

Flowers are such a classic to send mom for Mother’s Day, so here are some common flowers and their meanings, so you can send something extra personal. Call a florist in her area to have them create one just for her, and they can deliver it the day of.

Roses- Roses are classic and timeless, and look so beautiful alone in a nice vase, or mixed in with other flowers. Lighter red and deep pink rose represent gratitude and appreciation, while yellow roses represent caring nature.

Tulips- Not only do tulips represent spring, they look so beautiful in any arrangement. Tulips represent comfort and happiness. Pink tulips mean affection and caring- perfect for Mom’s Day!

Orchids- Orchids can be purchased or sent to mom in a plant form, or cut and put into an arrangement with other flowers, but will stand out above all others. They represent love, beauty, and strength, and is a Chinese symbol for “many children.”

Carnations- Another classic flower that look wonderful in almost any arrangement. They signify faith, love, beauty, and charity. Pink is the most classic for Mother’s Day, as they are a symbol of a Mother’s undying love.

We hope this has given you some ideas for mom for her very own day of the year.
