The holidays are a very busy time for most, but just because it’s the holiday season, doesn’t mean it’s not a good time to sell your home, and in fact can use it to your advantage.
Winter time is a great time to list your home, especially in Sunriver Resort and the surrounding Central Oregon areas, because:
- ⎫ Inventories are lower and this means less competition and may bring stronger pricing
- ⎫ More serious and qualified buyers who are making the trip specifically for purchasing
- ⎫ Buyers may be trying to take advantage of year-end or new year tax incentives
We’ve put together some tips for selling around the holidays, whether you just put it on the market, or it has been for some time…don’t give up!
Don’t go overboard with the holiday decor, but add pops of holiday throughout the home. Just like with any other time of the year, keep things pretty neutral when it comes to paint and decorations. You want potential buyers to see themselves in the home and use their imagination of how they could decorate or what they would do with the spaces.
Go online or browse Pinterest for ideas, whether you are adding festive holiday decor or not. Sometimes looking outside the box can push us to decorate how we normally wouldn’t. And, we might just end up loving the change.
Who doesn’t love looking at Christmas lights? Whether you add some fun lights, blow up Christmas figures, or adding some garland around the front door, just getting some attention to the house can attract potential buyers, when they might not have looked twice before, so think about adding some extra love to the yard/ porch area.
Make it cozy
If it’s snowing outside, the last thing people want to do is to be out in the weather to look at homes, so make yours cozy and welcoming! If you know people are coming to see your home, think about lighting a fire in the fireplace, make some cookies or baked goods to leave out for them, and make some cocoa or tea to warm up from the cold.
Always be Prepared
You may not always have much a lot of notice showings, so be sure to keep extra stuff put away, and only keep out the essentials. Overcrowding of stuff in the home can be a distraction to potential buyers, and again, you want them to picture themselves and their families living there.
