Sparrow Club & Swinging with the Stars

This year the Jones Group is proud to announce that we are donating  $1,000 to sponsor a pair dancing in Swinging with the Stars, which raises money for the Sparrow Club of Central Oregon. If you are not familiar with either of these, we will get you caught up.

The Sparrow club started in 1992, when a baby boy named Michael desperately needed a bone marrow transplant. When his parents ran out of options, and didn’t know what they were going to do to save their son, a student of Michael’s father emptied out his piggy bank to pitch in $60. This caused a chain reaction of kids pitching in to help, raising a total of $227,000, which allowed Michael to have his life-saving surgery. After that, the Sparrow Club started.

How it works- Every participating school gets a “sparrow” (a child in need) yearly, where the children of the school help out their sparrow. It truly is empowering kids to help kids. They volunteer their time to fundraise, and have many yearly events to raise money. One of the events is Swinging with the Stars.

Swinging with the stars is a dancing event where a local celebrity is paired up with a professional dancer, and the night of the event, they recite their dance. You can donate to your favorite local dancing pair, and buy tickets, come to the event on October 20, 2018, and vote there for them as well. It is a fun night filled with special entertainment, and exhibition dances from area professional troupes.  For more info about this Tower Theater event, click here.

We hope to see you there!
