As phase 2 of re-opening begins for Deschutes County, there are slowly more things you can do do with the family, while still social distancing of course. We’ve put together some family-friendly ideas for the weekend to come!
Fishing- Most lakes are open and some snow-free to make for easy access to the lake for an early summer lake day, or fishing. You can take a drive up Cascade Lakes Highway and see how accessible the lakes are out there. Just be sure to wear warm clothes in case of cold weather, or snow, and be aware that a lot of stores, restrooms, etc may still not be open for use, so go prepared.
Sunriver Resort- There are plenty of fun things to do at The Sunriver Resort. The Marina is officially open, so you can rent a kayak, canoe, or raft and make a day of floating. If you live in the area, why not book a night away from the kids, and have a relaxing evening in Sunriver? You can: golf, go horseback riding, rent bikes to ride around on, and even book a spa day. Check out the website to book a stay and get all the info on fun activities to do.
Movie night with take-out- Almost all restaurants are open still, some with the exception of dining in, so why not go rent some fun movies from Blockbuster, stock up on candy, and get take out from your favorite restaurant? This is great way to not only have a fun night, but support your favorite local businesses.
Trampoline Parks- Both trampoline parks are open in Bend now, so grab the kids and make an afternoon of it. There is Trampoline Zone & Adventure Park, as well as Mountain Air- Indoor Trampoline Park. Check out their websites or cal for availability, check in online may be required.
Make a day in Sunriver- The Village at Sunriver is open f0r shopping, dining, and the great atmosphere. You can rent bikes, grab lunch on a restaurant patio, or grab some cheese and crackers at the Sunriver Country Store and have a picnic somewhere. Just please remember to keep your distance and wear a mask to stay safe.
Although we are all itching to get out and get back to regular, pre-COVID life, it’s vital that we stay safe to prevent the spike in cases so we can be out and about with the people we love, doing the things we love.
Stay safe and healthy out there!
