With this warmer weather in Central Oregon lately, it has us all itching to get out and do our typical spring and summer activities. Hiking is one of the most popular things to do in Oregon, so we are telling you about our favorite hikes in Central Oregon you can do this winter and spring.
Smith Rock- Just outside Terrebonne, Smith Rock is one Oregon’s most beautiful places to hike, rock climb, or just go to for some sightseeing.
Pilot Butte- Located in the middle of Bend, Pilot Butte has all the views once at the top. You can park at the bottom and take the paved road to the top, or take the more difficult and more narrow dirt trail.
Blue Pool- This moderate, almost 4 mile round-trip hike does not disappoint. You walk through the green forest, and arrive at Blue Pool- one of the coldest, but most clear blue natural pools you will ever see. It is located along the Mckenzie River, near the Santiam Junction.
Otter Bench- Located in the Crooked River Canyon in Terrebonne, this hike is a great taste of Central Oregon. It is a little over 9 mile loop, and is dog friendly.
Metolius River Trail- This easy, 6.5 mile loop is located Camp Sherman and Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery. It is a trail along the Metolius River, so you have a gorgeous view the whole hike.
Steelhead Falls Trail- Outside of Terrebonne, Steelhead Falls is beautiful year-round. During the summer you can find cliff divers jumping off the cliff into the cold water below, but whether you get wet or not, the hike is beautiful and the views are worth every second of the hike.
Deschutes River Trail- Depending where you want to start, there are many spots in Bend that you can access the trail and walk along the beautiful Deschutes.
We hope this has given you some fun, new ideas, and you want to get out there and enjoy the beautiful weather, and the views Central Oregon has to offer.
